Six Maps Arrive in Multiplayer

Nightfall (Launch)

Nightfall Map

Nightfall is a three-lane classic that evolves dynamically throughout the match, beginning under bright daylight and gradually descending into dusk as the battle rages on. The shift in lighting transforms the tone of every engagement, from open-lane gunfights to shadowed flanking routes across rooftops and courtyards.

Close-quarters fights unfold inside office interiors and tight alleyways, while the map’s outskirts feature destructible vehicles and explosive cover that reward awareness and timing. Designed for both rushers and tacticians, Nightfall delivers a perfect blend of momentum and control in every mode.

Seabreak (In-Season)

Seabreak Map

Once a thriving coastal dockyard, Seabreak is now a battlefield swallowed by rising tides and crumbling sea walls. Operators fight across half-sunken storage bays and submerged piers as waves crash violently against the remaining infrastructure.

Reactive water physics and shifting cover create unpredictable mid-match scenarios — forcing squads to reposition as flooding routes block access or open new paths. Seabreak’s vertical cranes and exposed catwalks test precision aim and movement in equal measure.

Paris (Remastered • Launch)

Paris Map

Returning from earlier ShooterofIO titles, Paris has been completely rebuilt for Modern Ops 2 with modern lighting, enhanced destruction, and expanded playable areas. The city’s centerpiece — the Grand Plaza — now connects directly to underground metro tunnels and a collapsed overpass.

Every street and café corner offers strategic depth: long-range snipers can dominate open boulevards while close-quarters fighters thrive inside compact bistros and subway entrances. Paris remains a balanced urban map where chaos and elegance collide.

Incline (Remastered • In-Season)

Incline Map

The beloved mountain-side facility from ShooterofIO 1: Modern Ops makes its triumphant return — now re-engineered with reactive snowstorms, zip-line shortcuts, and a new command-center control room. Battles take place across layered elevation points, creating constant tension between snipers and close-range flanking teams.

Modern Ops 2’s version of Incline enhances visibility, movement flow, and destruction effects, making it one of the most technically advanced remasters to date. Veterans will feel nostalgia; newcomers will face a steep learning curve — literally.

Driftpoint (Launch Window)

Driftpoint Map

Set within a derelict cargo port caught in an endless sandstorm, Driftpoint fuses open vehicle yards with narrow corridors built for ambushes. Operators must constantly balance visibility and movement, as shifting dust clouds alter sightlines and conceal movement.

Rooftop scaffolding and underground freight tunnels introduce high-risk rotation routes that reward creative flanking and map knowledge. Every match feels different — the environment itself becomes a weapon.

Breaker Base (In-Season)

Breaker Base Map

A remote energy research site turned warzone, Breaker Base offers both high-tech interiors and exposed outer decks lashed by wind and rain. Fights range from tight laboratory corridors to long-range duels between defensive towers overlooking the central reactor.

The map’s dynamic lighting shifts between power surges and system outages, plunging Operators into moments of pure darkness broken only by muzzle flashes. Breaker Base is a visual showcase of the Modern Ops 2 engine — and a brutal test of teamwork.

Gamemode Overload Incoming

Vortex (Launch)

Img

A fan-favorite makes its return in Modern Ops 2. Vortex throws players into a constantly shifting battlefield where chaotic modifiers reshape the fight every few minutes. From randomized loadouts and altered gravity to disorienting visual effects, no two matches feel the same. Success depends on adaptability, quick thinking, and embracing the chaos.

The full rotation of modifiers in Vortex includes the following fourteen effects:

Manhunt (Launch Window)

Img

A high-stakes twist on elimination gameplay. At the start of each round, one player is marked as the Target. The opposing team must track them down and eliminate them before extraction, while the Target’s team must defend at all costs. To balance the fight, the Target gains boosted health and unique abilities, creating tense, cinematic moments as teams rally around their VIP.

Payload (In-Season)

Img

A tactical, objective-driven experience where Attackers must escort a heavily armored vehicle along a set route, while Defenders fight to halt its advance. Reaching checkpoints extends the match and rewards momentum, but defenders can turn the tide with well-timed pushes. Every meter of progress matters, making Payload one of the most team-oriented modes in the lineup.

Lockdown (In-Season)

Img

Fast, furious, and ever-shifting. Teams race to secure rotating objective rooms scattered across the map. Holding a zone for a set duration locks it down, scoring valuable points before the fight shifts elsewhere. Success demands coordination, decisive retakes, and the perfect blend of defense and aggression.

Three ALL NEW Killstreaks

Img

Hydra Drones (6 Kills)

Deploy a swarm of three autonomous quadrotor drones designed to harass and pressure enemies across the map. Each drone patrols its assigned area, engaging hostile targets with suppressed SMG fire to maintain stealth. Drones can be shot down, but each one respawns once unless the entire trio is destroyed, making them a persistent mid-tier threat.

Thunderstrike (9 Kills)

Unleash the power of the storm. Thunderstrike calls in a concentrated electrical barrage over a chosen section of the battlefield, stunning and damaging enemies caught within its radius. The strike also disrupts enemy electronics, temporarily disabling UAVs, sensors, and deployable equipment, giving your team a window of control in contested zones.

Cerberus Tank (12 Kills)

Take direct command of a compact but heavily armed remote-controlled mini-tank. Outfitted with a rapid-fire cannon and defensive smoke launchers, the Cerberus excels at clearing entrenched positions and breaching confined areas where larger vehicles can’t operate. On urban maps, its maneuverability and sustained firepower make it one of the deadliest streaks in the game.

Ranked Play Incoming (Mid-Season)

Missions Expansion

Missions Summary
Three New Operations Arrive: Season 01 expands Modern Ops 2’s cooperative Missions with Operation Breakpoint, Operation Black Ice, and Operation Firestorm — each crafted with unique objectives, cinematic design, and reactive environments that reward precision and teamwork.
Operation Breakpoint (Launch): Infiltrate a hijacked communications hub in the Urzikstan mountains before enemy forces broadcast critical data. Disable generators, jam uplinks, and survive an all-out siege under helicopter assault as the countdown nears zero.
Operation Black Ice (Launch): Breach a frozen drilling rig seized by mercenaries. Fight through flickering lights, freezing winds, and oil-soaked infernos while disabling drilling cores before detonation. Vertical decks and constant environmental threats make survival a test of adaptability.
Operation Firestorm (In-Season): Coordinate an ambush on a heavily armed desert convoy using explosives, RPGs, and drone strikes. Dynamic objectives and sprawling combat zones deliver one of the most cinematic and chaotic experiences yet.
Rewards & Progression: Complete all three Operations to earn exclusive Calling Cards, Weapon Blueprints, and high-tier progression unlocks across Multiplayer and Wargrounds 2.0. Every mission pushes your squad’s coordination, reaction speed, and tactical execution to the limit.

Three Entirely New Playspaces!

Img

Season 01 introduces a major expansion to Modern Ops 2’s cooperative Missions experience with three brand-new operations — each offering unique objectives, dynamic environments, and new tactical layers. Designed for both stealth and chaos, these Missions reward coordination, precision, and adaptability. Complete them to earn exclusive Calling Cards, Weapon Blueprints, and high-tier progression rewards across Multiplayer and Wargrounds 2.0.

Operation Breakpoint (Launch)

Img

Infiltrate a hijacked communications hub buried deep within the Urzikstan mountains and shut down an encrypted uplink before hostile forces broadcast critical data. Players begin by approaching the facility through dense fog and sniper overwatch before breaching the outer perimeter using breaching charges or silent infiltration. Inside, operators must disable generators to cut power, locate the main data core, and deploy signal jammers while defending key choke points from enemy reinforcements.

As the countdown nears zero, the mission escalates into an all-out siege — with enemy helicopters circling overhead and shock troops pouring into the control room. Only through coordinated fireteam tactics, equipment synergy, and strong communication can the uplink be disabled in time. Operation Breakpoint tests endurance, reaction speed, and teamwork under extreme pressure.

Operation Black Ice (Launch)

Img

A cold-blooded challenge awaits on a remote arctic drilling platform seized by rogue mercenaries. Operation Black Ice begins under cover of darkness, with a silent approach across frozen waters as players eliminate guards using suppressed weapons. Once inside the rig, chaos erupts — alarms blare, lights flicker, and the temperature plummets as the storm intensifies.

The interior is a labyrinth of narrow steel corridors and industrial machinery, offering vertical combat opportunities across multiple decks. Players must locate and disable the drilling cores before the rig detonates, all while evading sniper fire from catwalks and reinforcements arriving by helicopter. Environmental hazards, like freezing winds and oil fires, constantly reshape the battlefield. This mission demands adaptability and resourcefulness — every second counts in the storm.

Operation Firestorm (In-Season)

Img

Strike fast against a warlord’s heavily armed convoy cutting through a desert canyon. Operators must coordinate an ambush using mounted explosives, RPGs, and drone strikes to neutralize key vehicles before reinforcements arrive. With shifting objectives and open combat zones, Operation Firestorm delivers an explosive mid-season experience filled with chaos and cinematic spectacle.

Wargrounds 2.0 Overview

The next generation of warfare is here and after months of anticipation since its first reveal in August, Wargrounds 2.0 — the ultimate evolution of ShooterofIO’s player-versus-environment experience is live!

Welcome to the Warzone

How Do You Play Wargrounds 2.0?

Wargrounds 2.0 Overview Image

Rebuilt from the ground up by SOI Studios, Wargrounds 2.0 transforms the classic Operations mode into a massive, free-to-play PvE ecosystem. This is no simple mission hub — it’s a full-scale open-world experience that merges tactical co-op gameplay, survival-based objectives, and extraction-driven risk-reward systems into one evolving battlefield.

Up to 24 players deploy into sprawling shared maps — each the same scale and fidelity as the arenas used for the new Wargrounds Battle Royale. Squads enter separately, carve their own routes through hostile territory, and decide how deep they want to push. Engage AI-controlled enemies, complete dynamic Contracts, raid enemy strongholds, and uncover hidden story objectives scattered across the region.

The key to survival is choice. Every action in Wargrounds 2.0 feeds into a persistent risk-reward loop. Extract early and keep what you’ve earned — or venture further into high-threat Zones for bigger payouts at the cost of greater danger. Matches operate on a 45-minute timer before the encroaching Poisonous Gas Storm begins to close in, forcing every squad to fight their way to exfil before the area is completely sealed.

Within each run, Operators can purchase weapons through Weapon Wallbuys, equip Perk Packages, and store rare loot using the new Weapons Cache system. Extracted gear becomes permanent acquisitions or can be converted into schematics for crafting future equipment. Meanwhile, Operations Quests add a narrative framework to your runs, guiding players through interconnected storylines and long-term unlocks.

By making Operations free-to-play, SOI Studios is opening the doors for everyone to drop in, squad up, and experience a constantly evolving co-op ecosystem. It’s more strategic than Missions, more open-ended than Zombies, and built to evolve with every new Season.

Loadouts, Backpack, and Weaponry

Loadout and Backpack Image

Weapons and Loadouts

Operators begin each Operation by customizing their loadout — drawn directly from the full Modern Ops 2 arsenal and any future premium titles connected through the Wargrounds 2.0 ecosystem. A standard loadout includes:

Every weapon, melee item, and gadget available in Modern Ops 2 can be equipped once unlocked. Progression carries over seamlessly between Modern Ops 2 Multiplayer and Wargrounds 2.0 — meaning every match, regardless of mode, pushes you closer to your next unlock.

Backpack

Launching alongside Wargrounds 2.0 is the new Backpack System — a core upgrade that expands your carrying capacity mid-match. Backpacks allow Operators to store extra ammo, utility items, Field Upgrades, and even spare weapons. They can be found throughout the world in loot crates, lockers, or inside enemy camps, making scavenging just as vital as combat.

Difficulty Zones

Difficulty Zones Image

The battlefield is divided into multiple Zones, each with its own difficulty tier and unique enemy composition. Low-tier areas offer safe exploration and early-game loot, while High-Tier Zones push squads to their limits with elite AI, tighter resources, and specialized boss encounters.

Smart navigation is essential: the deeper you go, the deadlier it gets. Teams that manage Zone escalation carefully will reap the best rewards — but one wrong move can mean total squad elimination.

Introduction to the Curse! Welcome to “Cursed” Mode!

Cursed Mode Image

For those chasing endless survival, Cursed Mode offers a brutal alternative to standard Operations. The 45-minute timer is removed entirely, creating an infinite-length experience that rewards persistence and punishes hesitation.

Progression and rewards in Cursed Mode come only from completing Contracts and dynamic Missions. As time passes, all Zones escalate to High-Tier Threat Zones, filling the world with tougher enemies, elite patrols, and adaptive minibosses. Surviving longer means facing exponentially deadlier foes — but also earning exponentially better rewards.

Cursed Mode introduces several exclusive systems:

Built directly from community feedback, Cursed Mode provides infinite replayability, extreme tension, and a constant sense of risk. It’s the ultimate test of endurance for seasoned Operators.

Factions

Factions Image

New to Wargrounds 2.0 is the Factions System — a long-term progression layer that gives players meaningful identity and influence on the battlefield. Upon entering the world, Operators align with one of several competing groups, each with distinct philosophies, objectives, and exclusive rewards.

Factions control different regions and dictate the types of enemies, Contracts, and Missions you’ll face. Aligning with a private military outfit may grant heavy-weapon bonuses, while siding with an insurgent network could unlock stealth-oriented upgrades and black-market trade routes.

Reputation with each Faction is tracked separately. Completing Faction-specific objectives earns unique cosmetics, blueprints, Operator skins, and narrative-driven challenges. Allegiances can be changed between Seasons, allowing players to explore every storyline and reward path without losing progress.

What to Expect in Coming Seasons

Future Seasons Image

Wargrounds 2.0 is built as a live, continuously evolving experience. Each new Season introduces fresh content, story threads, and gameplay systems that expand the Operations ecosystem. Here’s a preview of what’s ahead:

This is only the beginning for Operations. With every Season, new threats will rise, new mysteries will unfold, and the battlefield will continue to evolve.

General Overview

Img

The first season of Modern Ops 2 delivers a massive arsenal expansion, introducing an array of brand-new weapons across multiple classes. Whether you prefer pinpoint accuracy, brute force, or lightning-fast engagements, Season 01 ensures every Operator can find a weapon to master. Featuring both launch and in-season drops, these additions bring new strategies, playstyles, and customization possibilities across Multiplayer and Wargrounds 2.0.

New Primary Weaponry

Img

ARX-160 (Launch – Battle Pass Sector A7)

A modular Italian-made assault rifle designed for adaptability in any combat scenario. Featuring a high rate of fire, low recoil, and excellent mid-range control, the ARX-160 excels in both aggressive and defensive engagements. Its balanced design allows for flexible attachment builds, making it a favorite among versatile Operators.

Falcon 7.62 (Launch – Battle Pass Sector A14)

A precision semi-automatic rifle chambered in 7.62×51mm, the Falcon 7.62 delivers devastating power with each shot. Ideal for marksmen who value accuracy over volume, this rifle’s recoil demands discipline — but its two-shot kill potential rewards those who master its rhythm.

Vector .45 (Launch – Missions: Operation Firestorm)

Compact and lethal, the Vector .45 dominates at close range with a blistering cyclic rate and heavy .45 ASC rounds. Built for Operators who thrive in fast-paced, room-clearing action, it shreds through targets before they can react. Recoil control and ammo discipline are key to mastering its furious tempo.

XR-88 LMG (Launch – Armory Challenge)

A next-generation light machine gun engineered for suppression and sustained fire. Chambered in 5.8mm caseless rounds, the XR-88 features a blazing rate of fire, minimal vertical climb, and exceptional ammo capacity. While mobility suffers, its consistent accuracy under fire makes it a cornerstone for anchoring objectives.

Bulldog 12 (In-Season – Battle Pass Classified Sector)

This semi-automatic bullpup shotgun combines agility with formidable short-range power. Perfect for breaching and aggressive CQB pushes, the Bulldog 12 delivers quick follow-up shots and reliable performance in tight spaces. Its modular build allows for tactical or high-damage configurations, depending on your playstyle.

Arclight .50 (In-Season – [REDACTED] Event Drop)

A colossal anti-materiel sniper rifle firing .50 BMG rounds designed to eliminate vehicles and Operators alike. The Arclight .50 delivers extreme range and one-shot lethality, balanced by heavy recoil and slow rechambering. Built for overwatch roles, it redefines long-range supremacy.

Mamba 9 (In-Season – Weapon Challenges)

A compact SMG with exceptional stability and mobility, chambered in 9×19mm. The Mamba 9’s hybrid design bridges the gap between SMG and carbine, offering controllable recoil and strong mid-range potential. Its laser-precise handling makes it deadly in both stealth and speed-based builds.

Img

New Secondary Weaponry

Sidewinder .357 (Launch – Battle Pass Sector A9)

A heavy-caliber revolver capable of stopping enemies in their tracks. Its slow fire rate is offset by enormous stopping power, making it an ideal backup for snipers and heavy weapon users. The Sidewinder can be fitted with custom optics and grips for added precision.

Fennec Auto (In-Season – Weekly Challenges)

A compact machine pistol offering full-auto fire and high mobility. Designed for close-quarters dominance, it’s perfect for aggressive flankers and Operators needing a fast-reacting secondary when their primary runs dry.

Img

New Melee Weapons

Carbon Edge Knife (Launch – Base Unlock)

A lightweight tactical blade built for stealth eliminations. Its quick swing speed and silent kill potential make it a vital asset for Operators who prefer to stay undetected.

Impact Baton (In-Season – Armory Event)

A reinforced shock baton designed for stunning close-quarters takedowns. Each strike delivers a burst of concussive force capable of disorienting enemies and interrupting melee attacks.

Img

New Equipment and Field Upgrades

EMP Drone (Launch – Field Upgrade)

Deploys a compact drone that emits an electromagnetic pulse, disabling enemy electronics, vehicles, and killstreaks within range. Excellent for breaking fortified enemy positions or countering advanced optics.

Adrenal Surge (In-Season – Perk Package Addition)

Temporarily boosts movement speed, reload rate, and health regeneration after each elimination. Designed for aggressive playstyles that thrive on momentum.

Thermal Decoy (In-Season – Tactical Equipment)

Projects a false heat signature on enemy sensors, mimicking player movement to mislead UAVs, Thermals, and AI patrols in Wargrounds 2.0.

With these additions, Season 01 sets the tone for a content-packed year ahead. Every weapon and tool introduced has been meticulously balanced to fit across all modes — ensuring that whether you’re storming objectives in Multiplayer, or extracting in Wargrounds 2.0, there’s always a new way to play.

New Aftermarket Parts and Updates

Img

For players looking to push their weaponry even further, Aftermarket Parts are receiving major upgrades with the launch of Season 1.

Starting this season, you’ll no longer need to grind a weapon to its maximum level before experimenting with these powerful mods. Aftermarket Parts can now be equipped as early as Level 1, giving every weapon immediate access to deeper customization and unique performance boosts right out of the gate.

Img

JAK Purifier

Compatability: MCW, MTZ-556, Holger 556, DG-56, SVA 545, RAM-7, MTZ-762, BAS-B, Sidewinder, Riveter

Equip an underbarrel flamethrower. What more needs to be said? Burn it all down. The JAK Purifier AMP is compatible with several weapons, including multiple Assault Rifles, Battle Rifles, and the Riveter Shotgun.

JAK Ettin Double Barrel Kit

Available for the AMR9 SMG, this kit creates two stacked barrels that fire simultaneously. This offers twice as much down-range damage at the cost of some accuracy.

JAK Thunder LMG Kit

Dominate lanes and hold objectives with this LMG conversion kit for the Sidewinder Battle Rifle that brings a large capacity magazine and ramps in fire rate the longer you hold down the trigger.

JAK BRB

Go loud. This compensator borders on excessive, offering a phenomenal reduction to recoil while significantly increasing muzzle report, resulting in an extended red dot on enemy radars.

JAK Bullseye

Very low-profile dot Optic. Limited interference from framework offers an exceptionally clear sight picture.
