ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare II Zombies is built as the next major survival pillar for Air Studios: a round-based, horror-driven, system-rich experience where every match asks the same question in a different way. How far are you willing to push before the horde, the map, or your own greed cuts the run short?

This is Zombies with more decisions between rounds, more reasons to explore, and more pressure when the undead start to flood the room. Returning systems from Dark Warfare have been rebuilt around clearer progression, stronger match identity, and a launch map designed to feel dangerous before the first door is even opened.

Sanctum Map

The new era begins October 16, 2026, when ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare II launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Battle.net and Steam.

ZOMBIES // Overview

A Darker, Faster, More Tactical Survival Experience

Zombies returns in Dark Warfare II with the foundation players know: kill the undead, earn Essence, open the map, strengthen your weapons, buy Perks, uncover secrets, and survive for as long as your squad can hold the line. The difference is in how much more the mode asks of you. Every system has been tuned to make the early rounds faster to engage with, the mid-game more tactical, and the high rounds more punishing when preparation falls apart.

Whether you are pushing for high-round endurance, chasing the Main Quest, building out a perfect Perk route, or risking everything for one more Mystery Box spin, Dark Warfare II Zombies is designed to keep squads moving. There is always another door to open, another resource to spend, another machine to reach, and another wave closing in before you are ready.

ZOMBIES // Setting // Sanctum

Enter the Cathedral Beneath the World

SUMMARY: The launch map, Sanctum, is a sprawling underground cathedral where corrupted Aether energy, shifting routes, forbidden relics, and claustrophobic combat spaces create a brutal opening chapter for the new Zombies storyline.

Sanctum Map

Sanctum is the opening battleground of Dark Warfare II Zombies: a vast subterranean cathedral where gothic stonework, abandoned ritual chambers, corrupted machinery, and unstable Aether conduits collide. Its halls are not built like a safe arena. They are tight, layered, and deliberately hostile, forcing squads to learn where they can rotate, where they can hold, and where they should never get trapped once the round count starts climbing.

Early exploration begins in crypt tunnels and broken service passages, where visibility is poor and the undead come from uncomfortable angles. As squads push deeper, Sanctum opens into larger cathedral arenas fractured by Aether storms, collapsed bridges, shattered stained glass, and ritual platforms that reshape the flow of combat. The map rewards movement, but punishes panic. A clean route can save a run; a bad turn can feed the horde.

Hidden relics, occult mechanisms, and sealed wings give Sanctum its long-term mystery. Players willing to search beyond the obvious routes can uncover weapon caches, lore fragments, upgrade opportunities, and [[REDACTED]] tied directly to the unfolding Zombies story. Some paths may appear stable at first, only to change as the match develops, creating new risks and new rewards for squads that keep exploring.

Beneath Sanctum lies something far worse than the undead already clawing through its corridors. Survivors have reported whispers from lower catacombs, sealed chambers that should not exist, and Aether signatures strong enough to alter the course of a full run. Sanctum is not only the first map. It is the warning shot.

ZOMBIES // Gameplay // Round-Based Survival

Survive the Wave, Spend the Essence, Push Deeper

SUMMARY: Classic round-based Zombies returns with faster escalation, stronger map routing, and more tactical decisions built into every stage of a match.

Round-Based Gameplay Overview

At its core, Zombies remains round-based. Each wave grows more aggressive, enemies hit harder, and survival becomes less about simply killing what is in front of you and more about staying ahead of the entire match economy. Essence, Perks, armor, weapon rarity, Pack-a-Punch, Ammo Mods, equipment, and route knowledge all matter. Ignore one part of the loop for too long, and the mode will expose it quickly.

The opening rounds give players space to establish a route and build momentum. By the time the match reaches double digits, squads are expected to have made meaningful choices. Do you open deeper into Sanctum, invest in your weapon, buy a key Perk, craft equipment, or save for a higher-value upgrade? Every decision has opportunity cost, and every delay gives the horde more room to catch up.

ZOMBIES // Gameplay // Essence

The Currency of Survival

SUMMARY: Essence powers nearly every major decision in Zombies, from doors and Perks to weapon upgrades, crafting, Ammo Mods, and late-round preparation.

Essence Currency

Essence is earned through kills, objectives, rewards, and exploration, and it remains the central currency of a successful run. It opens doors, purchases Perk-a-Colas, upgrades weapons at the Arsenal Machine, fuels crafting, activates machines, and helps squads recover from mistakes before those mistakes become fatal.

The best squads will not simply spend Essence as soon as they have it. They will plan around it. A late Perk purchase may save a downed player. A weapon rarity upgrade may keep the team ahead of enemy scaling. A crafted Tactical may create the breathing room needed to complete a quest step. Essence is simple to understand, but in high rounds, it becomes a pressure system of its own.

ZOMBIES // Operations // Main Quest

Uncover What Sanctum Is Hiding

SUMMARY: Each Zombies map features a Main Quest built around rituals, hidden objectives, story progression, and powerful rewards for squads willing to solve the deeper mystery.

Main Quest

Sanctum includes a Main Quest that pulls players into the central mystery of the map. Completing it is not required for survival, but squads that pursue it can expect narrative discoveries, unique objectives, dangerous encounters, and reward paths that go beyond standard high-round play.

The quest structure is designed around replayability rather than a single static checklist. Rituals, hidden items, environmental clues, and combat tests bring the cathedral’s lower levels into focus, while [[REDACTED]] remains locked behind progression the team is not ready to fully reveal. The message is simple: the deeper you dig, the less Sanctum behaves like a normal map.

ZOMBIES // Operations // Exfil

Leave Alive or Stay Greedy

SUMMARY: Exfil returns, giving squads the chance to escape at specific round milestones for bonus rewards instead of fighting until the run collapses.

Exfil Option

Not every run needs to end with the squad buried under the horde. Exfil gives players the option to call for extraction once certain round milestones are reached. Accept the call, hold out through the final undead surge, and escape with bonus rewards. Fail the holdout, and the operation ends violently.

Exfil is built around timing and honesty. A squad that has fallen behind on upgrades may need to leave before the next escalation. A confident team may stay for more Essence, more quest progress, or better rewards. The choice is yours, but Zombies will not wait politely while you debate it.

ZOMBIES // Gameplay // Movement

Stay Mobile or Get Surrounded

SUMMARY: Sprinting, sliding, diving, and faster mantling support a more fluid boots-on-the-ground Zombies experience without turning survival into chaos.

Movement in Dark Warfare II Zombies has been tuned to feel sharper and more consistent across combat spaces. Sprinting, sliding, diving, and mantling all support quick repositioning, while Sanctum’s corridors, side routes, vertical paths, and broken arenas are built to reward players who understand space under pressure.

This is still grounded Zombies. You are not escaping the horde through impossible movement tricks. You are surviving by using clean traversal, smart timing, and route awareness. The difference between a clutch recovery and a failed run may be one mantle, one slide through a side hall, or one desperate dive away from a closing pack.

ZOMBIES // Interface // HUD

Information Where You Need It

SUMMARY: The redesigned HUD groups essential information more clearly, making it easier to read health, armor, Essence, Perks, equipment, objectives, and combat feedback during heavy pressure.

HUD Options

Dark Warfare II Zombies introduces a redesigned HUD built for readability in the middle of a fight. Map information, active objectives, squad status, Perks, equipment, weapon rarity, Ammo Mods, Pack-a-Punch level, and Field Upgrade charge are all arranged to make the important information easier to find when the screen is crowded.

The top-left HUD area displays the current named location, minimap progress, active objectives, and squad callouts. The top-middle compass tracks heading and dynamic pings, while the top-right keeps the round counter visible and supports Handler communications through portraits and waveform feedback. The goal is to keep navigation, objectives, and story chatter readable without pulling attention away from the horde.

Player status is grouped in the bottom-left, covering operator name, health, armor, Self-Revive status, Essence, and squad health overlays. Perks sit along the bottom-middle with clean tier markers. The bottom-right collects offensive information: weapon, rarity, ammo count, fire mode, Ammo Mod, Pack-a-Punch tier, Tactical, Lethal, Field Upgrade, and collected Custom Pack consumables.

Combat feedback has also been clarified. Hit markers, armor damage, critical damage, kill confirmations, enemy health bars, and contextual pings are designed to help players read the fight without breaking immersion. When chaos hits, the HUD should help you make the next decision faster.

ZOMBIES // Systems // Saving and Stability

Built for Longer Runs

SUMMARY: New backend safeguards support long sessions through improved connection monitoring, reconnect support, and idle protection designed to reduce abuse without punishing genuine players.

Zombies runs can last. To support that, Dark Warfare II introduces backend improvements designed around stability, recovery, and fair play. Connection monitoring helps preserve match integrity, reconnect support gives disconnected players a better chance to return, and idle protection keeps exploit behavior from damaging the experience for active squads.

These systems are not flashy, but they matter. When a squad is deep into a high-round run, the last thing anyone wants is progress lost to instability or abuse. The goal is simple: keep the focus on survival.

ZOMBIES // Modes // Standard

The Core Round-Based Experience

SUMMARY: Standard is the main Zombies experience, balancing survival, progression, exploration, Main Quest pursuit, and high-round endurance.

Alpha Crew
Zombies Icon

Standard: Traditional round-based Zombies on the launch map Sanctum.

Standard is the baseline mode and the center of the Dark Warfare II Zombies experience. Enemy health and damage scale at a steady pace, Essence flows through the expected economy, revives follow normal rules, and squads have access to the full survival loop of Perks, upgrades, Pack-a-Punch, crafting, Mystery Box rolls, and quest progression.

This is where most players will learn Sanctum, build their preferred routes, test weapons, chase Easter eggs, and push for deeper runs. It is challenging enough to punish poor planning, but fair enough to let smart squads recover, adapt, and keep fighting.

ZOMBIES // Modes // Hardcore

For Squads That Want the Pain Up Front

SUMMARY: Hardcore unlocks after reaching Round 100 and player level 35, stripping away safety nets with fewer resources, limited Perks, harsher scaling, and slower recovery.

Hardcore Zombies Mode
Zombies Icon

Hardcore: Limited resources, faster enemy scaling, fewer safety nets, and a harsher survival economy.

Hardcore Zombies is locked until players prove they are ready. To access it, you must reach Round 100 in Standard and hit at least player level 35. Once unlocked, Hardcore becomes the mode for squads that want every mistake to matter from the opening stages of the match.

Perk slots are limited, Essence earnings are reduced, enemy scaling accelerates faster, revives take longer, armor is harder to maintain, and recovery windows are tighter. A bad route, missed upgrade, or wasted resource can end hours of progress. Hardcore is not designed to be comfortable. It is designed to be earned.

ZOMBIES // Progression // Proficiencies

Customize Perks Inside the Match

SUMMARY: Proficiencies replace the previous Augments system with match-based Perk upgrades purchased through Essence, offering powerful choices that reset after the session ends.

Proficiencies are the new match-based enhancement system for Perk-a-Colas in Dark Warfare II Zombies. Instead of relying on permanent Augment setups from Dark Warfare, Proficiencies are earned and selected during the match, giving squads more active decisions while keeping the balance of each run intact.

Every Perk begins with its base ability and can be upgraded through two additional tiers. The base Perk costs 2,500 Essence. Tier 1 costs 5,000 Essence and presents a choice between two Proficiencies. Tier 2 costs 12,500 Essence and adds another enhancement. The right combination can reshape a build, but the investment is significant enough that players must plan carefully.

Because Proficiencies reset after the match, each run can support different strategies. One squad may build for mobility and revive safety. Another may lean into damage, crowd control, or armor recovery. The system is powerful, but it is not free power. You have to buy it, protect it, and survive long enough for it to matter.

ZOMBIES // Preparation // Weapons and Loadouts

Bring a Plan, Not a Win Button

SUMMARY: Loadouts return with a more balanced structure, letting players choose a starting weapon, melee slot, and Field Upgrade while keeping upgrades and map progression essential.

Loadouts Overview

Loadouts return, but they are built to support the opening stage of a match rather than overpower it. Every player selects a Main Weapon, a dedicated Melee Slot, and one Field Upgrade before deployment. Your starting choices define how you approach the first rounds, but the map economy still decides how strong you become.

Starting weapons enter the match at base strength, with one or zero attachments depending on their Common rarity setup. As the weapon rises through rarity tiers, attachments from your Gunsmith build are added in order. This means a weapon can become more personal and more effective as the match progresses, without giving players a fully stacked setup in Round 1.

In-game weapons follow the same logic. A Tempered weapon purchased or found during a match may already include two attachments. Upgrade it to Ascendant, and another attachment can be added. Most firearms support five attachment slots, while Wonder Weapons do not use attachments at all. Essence, crafting, exploration, and upgrade timing remain the heart of the mode. Your Loadout is the starting point, not the shortcut.

ZOMBIES // Preparation // Equipment

Craft the Tools That Keep the Run Alive

SUMMARY: Tacticals, Lethals, and Support Equipment can be crafted with Essence at Crafting Tables, giving squads more ways to control crowds, recover under pressure, and shift dangerous engagements.

Survival in Dark Warfare II Zombies is not just about the weapon in your hands. It is also about the equipment you prepare, craft, and deploy when the room starts to collapse. Crafting Tables allow players to spend Essence on Tacticals, Lethals, and Support Equipment throughout the match, giving squads more options when firepower alone is not enough.

Tactical Equipment

Tactical Equipment

Tactical Equipment provides breathing room. Flash Devices blind and stagger nearby undead. Stim Shots instantly restore health and refresh Tactical Sprint. Signal Beacons draw zombie attention away from the squad. Frost Bombs slow enemies inside their blast area. Shock Traps attach to surfaces and stun approaching threats. Siren Monkeys lure the horde with sound before detonating.

Lethal Equipment

Lethals are built for damage. Frag Grenades return as cookable explosives, Sticky Charges adhere to enemies or surfaces, Molotov Cocktails spread fire, C4 Blocks offer remote detonation, Combat Hatchets provide retrievable precision kills, Plasma Mines release energy bursts, Incendiary Canisters spread burning gel, and Blast Cores deliver a costly but devastating explosion when the squad needs the room cleared immediately.

Support Equipment

Support Equipment represents the high-end end of the Crafting Table. Sentry Turrets suppress lanes, Resupply Beacons restore ammo and equipment, Guardian Drones provide temporary overhead protection, Mortar Strikes punish dense clusters, and Emergency Exfil Flares can create a sudden extraction opportunity when the team needs out.

Many equipment pieces can also appear as ground loot. However, Self-Revives are no longer craftable in normal Zombies matches. If you want a second chance, you will need to earn it, find it, or protect the one you already have.

ZOMBIES // Preparation // Custom Packs

Build Your Consumable Deck Before the Match

SUMMARY: Custom Packs are a new Pack Machine system that lets players bring up to five one-use consumables into a match, then roll from that prepared set during survival.

Custom Packs Machine

Custom Packs are a new one-use consumable system for Dark Warfare II Zombies. Before deployment, players build a pack of up to five consumables from their unlocked library. Once the match begins, Pack Machines found on the map allow players to spend Essence and roll one item from that prepared pack.

Each consumable is single-use, and each pull matters. Some may offer quick survival utility. Others may create a rare clutch moment, change the tempo of a round, or support a specific squad strategy. Consumables are divided into Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary rarities, with stronger effects appearing less frequently.

The full list of Custom Pack consumables is being held for later intel. For now, know this: preparation matters before the match starts, and luck matters once the Pack Machine starts spinning.

ZOMBIES // Arsenal // Ammo Mods

Elemental Power Through the Arsenal Machine

SUMMARY: Ammo Mods return through the Arsenal Machine, combining six returning effects with two new options: Voidlash and Solar Flare.

Ammo Mods

Ammo Mods are back in Dark Warfare II, giving standard weapons specialized effects against the undead. Cryo Freeze slows and can freeze enemies solid. Napalm Burst ignites targets and spreads fire. Shock Rounds arc electricity through the horde. Plague Burst creates toxic clouds on kills. Bloodshot turns critical hits into gore-heavy explosions. Entropy Rounds destabilize enemies with implosive Aether bursts.

Two new Mods join the lineup. Voidlash tears small rifts into reality, pulling enemies inward before releasing a shockwave. Solar Flare supercharges rounds with searing light, blinding enemies and increasing the damage they take. With eight total Mods at launch, the Arsenal Machine gives every weapon a way to become more than raw damage.

ZOMBIES // Systems // Rampage Inducer

Skip the Warm-Up, Invite the Disaster

SUMMARY: The Rampage Inducer returns with clearer tracking, stronger communication, and faster early-round pacing for squads that want immediate pressure.

Rampage Inducer

Returning from Dark Warfare, the Rampage Inducer lets squads accelerate the opening stage of a match. When all squad members agree to activate it, zombies spawn faster, move more aggressively, and attack with relentless pressure through the first 20 rounds. If the squad changes its mind, players can vote again to shut it down.

Quality-of-life updates make the system easier to track. The Inducer now displays a visible timer and round tracker, joining players are warned when it is active, cooldown pacing has been smoothed under Rampage conditions, and affected zombies now carry a clearer visual aura. For veterans, it is the fastest way into the real fight. For everyone else, it is a reminder that the horde does not need help being terrifying.

ZOMBIES // Progression // Ground Loot

Every Kill Can Fuel the Next Decision

SUMMARY: Ground Loot rewards active scavenging through Essence, armor plates, equipment drops, Ammo Mod pickups, and new Occult Fragments found during combat.

Ground Loot

The undead do not only bring danger. They bring resources. Ground Loot in Dark Warfare II keeps the match economy moving by dropping Essence, armor plates, equipment, rare pickups, and new Occult Fragments. Common resources are often collected automatically, while higher-value items may demand a manual pickup at the worst possible moment.

Essence drops remain the backbone of upgrades and crafting. Armor Plates are collected when reserve capacity allows. Tacticals, Lethals, Support Equipment, and rare Ammo Mod pickups can appear as replaceable tools in the field. Occult Fragments are unique to Dark Warfare II, functioning as unstable Aether shards that can be exchanged at hidden altars for bonus Essence or temporary buffs.

ZOMBIES // Resources // Ammo Caches

Refill Before the Room Turns

SUMMARY: Ammo Caches return as paid refill stations, with costs scaling based on weapon rarity and Pack-a-Punch strength.

Ammo Cache

Ammo Caches are placed throughout every Zombies map, giving players a reliable way to refill held weapons, including Wonder Weapons, by spending Essence. The cost scales with weapon strength, meaning higher-rarity and Pack-a-Punched weapons demand a greater investment.

Efficient squads will plan around ammo just as carefully as they plan around Perks and upgrades. A full refill at the wrong time can delay a critical purchase. Waiting too long can leave the team dry during an elite wave. Ammo is a resource. Treat it like one.

ZOMBIES // Activities // Trials

Short Challenges, High-Value Rewards

SUMMARY: Trial Terminals appear throughout each map, letting players spend Essence to activate short challenges with valuable reward chests on completion.

Trials Terminal

Trial Terminals phase through the map like objects barely anchored to reality. Spend enough Essence, activate the terminal, and your squad is given a short challenge. Objectives may ask you to hold a zone, score precision kills, eliminate enemies under specific conditions, or survive an intense pressure window.

Complete the Trial, and a reward chest materializes with valuable loot. Rewards can include Essence bundles, bonus Essence, equipment, Perk upgrades, or Ammo Mod upgrades. Once used, the terminal disappears and later returns elsewhere after a cooldown, encouraging squads to keep moving if they want the best rewards.

ZOMBIES // Resources // Power-Ups

Instant Rewards, Dangerous Timing

SUMMARY: Classic Power-Ups return, forcing squads to decide when to risk a pickup and when to wait for the perfect timing.

Power-Ups

Power-Ups remain one of the most important chaos systems in Zombies. Dropping into the play space for a limited time, these instant-use bonuses can rescue a failing round or become wasted if grabbed at the wrong moment. Coordination matters, especially when the horde is between the squad and the pickup.

Returning Power-Ups include Insta-Kill, Double Points, Max Ammo, Nuke, Fire Sale, Bonus Points, Full Power, and Max Armor. Insta-Kill drops standard zombies in one hit while giving bonus damage against stronger enemies. Double Points doubles Essence gains. Max Ammo refills weapons and equipment. Nuke clears standard enemies and damages stronger threats. Fire Sale activates Mystery Box locations at reduced cost. Bonus Points grants instant Essence. Full Power refills Field Upgrades, and Max Armor fully repairs armor to its current tier.

ZOMBIES // Arsenal // Weapon Rarity

Upgrade the Weapon Before It Falls Behind

SUMMARY: Weapon rarity upgrades at the Arsenal Machine increase damage output and help starter weapons remain viable into later rounds.

Arsenal Machine

The Arsenal Machine lets players invest Essence into weapon rarity, transforming basic firearms into tools capable of surviving late-round pressure. Rarity is displayed through the HUD using a colored backdrop and diamond icon, making it clear where your weapon sits in the damage economy.

Common upgrades a weapon to Tier II Damage for 10,000 Essence. Rare pushes it to Tier III Damage for 20,000 Essence. Epic reaches Tier IV Damage for 60,000 Essence. Legendary unlocks Tier V Damage for 100,000 Essence. The prices are steep because the power matters. A weapon left behind in rarity will eventually stop doing its job.

Rarity upgrades compete with every other Essence demand in the match. Buy too late, and the horde gets ahead of your damage. Buy too early, and you may delay Perks, doors, equipment, or Pack-a-Punch. The Arsenal Machine is not just a damage station. It is a decision point.

ZOMBIES // Arsenal // Wall Buys

Reliable Firepower When the Run Changes

SUMMARY: Weapon Wall Buys offer reliable firearm access during a match, with rarity scaling and Zombies Build integration keeping them relevant deeper into survival.

Wall Buy Weapons

Wall Buys are placed across the map as quick-access weapon options for players who need to shift strategy, replace a weak loadout weapon, or grab a specific tool for the situation. Each Wall Buy is tied to a rarity tier that improves as rounds progress, helping purchased weapons stay useful as the match escalates.

If you have created a Zombies Build for that weapon, the Wall Buy can generate your saved setup with attachments and cosmetics as the weapon climbs through rarity. This gives the system more identity without removing the tactical choice of buying off the wall in the first place.

ZOMBIES // Survival // Armor Wall Buys

Buy Durability Before You Need It

SUMMARY: Armor Wall Buys permanently raise your armor vest level, giving players stronger protection before armor maintenance shifts back to plates and loot.

Armor Wall Buys

Armor Wall Buys provide direct vest upgrades through Essence. A Level II Vest enables two armor plates at once, while a Level III Vest unlocks three armor plates for maximum protection. These upgrades are permanent for the run and can make a major difference once enemies begin breaking armor quickly.

After purchase, the station powers down permanently. From there, armor must be maintained through plate drops, Ground Loot, and smart play. The upgrade gives you durability, not immunity.

ZOMBIES // Arsenal // Mystery Box

Luck, Corruption, and Consequences

SUMMARY: The Mystery Box returns as a corrupted Dark Aether reliquary with expanded rewards, Zombies Build integration, and a new corruption risk tied to repeated spins.

Mystery Box

The Mystery Box returns in Dark Warfare II, but it is no longer just a weapon crate. This version is a corrupted reliquary tied to the Dark Aether, shifting locations across the map and marked by a vertical beam of blue energy. Every spin can change a run. Every spin can also make the Box angrier.

Possible rewards include random weapons from across the arsenal, Wonder Weapons, Support Gear, and new Aether Relics. Weapons may appear at different rarity levels, giving squads a chance at stronger firepower earlier than expected. Thanks to Zombies Build integration, some rolls may even return one of your saved weapon builds, complete with attachments and cosmetics.

The new corruption mechanic adds risk to repeated use. Spin too much, and Mr. Peeks signals the Box’s departure. In Dark Warfare II, corruption can also spawn hostile Aether Shades when greed gets too high, forcing players to fight off the consequences before the Box relocates. Sometimes the right call is to spin again. Sometimes the right call is to walk away.

ZOMBIES // Arsenal // Pack-a-Punch

The Line Between Survival and Collapse

SUMMARY: Pack-a-Punch returns with three upgrade tiers, faster interaction flow, visual and audio improvements, and stronger synergy with weapon rarity.

Pack-a-Punch Machine

Pack-a-Punch remains the beating heart of late-game Zombies. Once the map’s power is restored and the machine is online, players can upgrade held weapons through three tiers using Essence. The interaction has been streamlined into a seamless upgrade action, reducing downtime while the horde is closing in.

Tier I, Empowered, increases base damage and ammo reserves for 5,000 Essence, with reduced cost when weapon rarity is high enough. Tier II, Reinforced, boosts base damage further, expands magazine performance, and changes weapon audio for 10,000 Essence. Tier III, Ascended, delivers the strongest damage increase, glowing camos, and improved reload feel for 20,000 Essence.

Rarity matters here as well. Higher-rarity weapons receive better value from the upgrade path, making Arsenal Machine investment and Pack-a-Punch timing part of the same long-term plan. Visual and audio improvements give each tier a stronger identity, while players who prefer cleaner weapon presentation can toggle Pack-a-Punch camos off in Settings.

Wonder Weapons and melee weapons also benefit from Pack-a-Punch. Wonder Weapons gain amplified special effects, while melee weapons can evolve into brutal close-range tools with unique finishers. No matter what you bring into the fight, Pack-a-Punch is where the run starts becoming serious.

ZOMBIES // Arsenal // Wonder Weapons

Weapons That Should Not Exist

SUMMARY: Wonder Weapons return with new Dark Aether prototypes, including the Aetherflayer and the Ray Gun, each offering high-impact firepower with distinct combat identity.

Wonder Weapons define the outer edge of Zombies firepower. In Dark Warfare II, corrupted Aether research has produced weapons that break the rules of ballistics, biology, and physics. Some can be found through the Mystery Box, others through quests, hidden construction steps, or map-specific discoveries.

The Aetherflayer

Aetherflayer Wonder Weapon

The Aetherflayer is the flagship Wonder Weapon of Dark Warfare II, combining the silhouette of a rifle with the violent behavior of an industrial plasma cutter. Its Primary Fire, Rending Beam, releases a concentrated Aether stream that cuts through enemies in a line. Hold it too long, and the beam grows unstable, demanding control from the player using it.

Its Secondary Fire, Shardburst, launches a volatile Aether shard that detonates into piercing fragments, stunning elite enemies and briefly distorting gravity around the blast. The weapon uses specialized Aether cells, and careless overheating can vent energy back toward the user. Pack-a-Punch upgrades improve beam stability, expand Shardburst impact, and eventually add elemental behavior connected to Ammo Mods.

The Ray Gun

Ray Gun

The Ray Gun returns as the iconic Zombies sidearm, updated for the tighter corridors and faster combat flow of Dark Warfare II. Its plasma bolts remain explosive and devastating against clustered enemies, while recoil, projectile speed, and close-range splash behavior have been tuned to make the weapon more reliable under pressure.

Pack-a-Punch expands the Ray Gun with larger magazines, alternate bolt visuals, improved armor penetration, and additional upgrade paths that let it remain one of the most trusted panic buttons in Zombies. The Aetherflayer is unstable invention. The Ray Gun is proven chaos.
